A celebration to commemorate ten years of Queen Jennah’s rule is about to kick off in Divinity’s Reach! The queen has commissioned a new gladiatorial arena for the occasion—the Crown Pavilion—as a shining symbol of her people’s endurance. Take a hot air balloon ride with dignitaries from across Tyria to the capital of the Krytan nation, and be there for the opening ceremony. Join in the festivities and compete in ceremonial combat in Her Majesty’s honor!

Hot Air Balloons

  • The queen’s court has sent out hot air balloons to transport celebrants! Look for balloon towers all over Tyria.
  • Ascend to the top of a balloon tower to claim a royal gift before embarking on the journey to Divinity’s Reach.
  • Watch for all-new dynamic events as the balloon pilots may need help keeping everything running smoothly.
  • A special hot air balloon souvenir will be given to players who are festive enough to visit 30 towers.

The Crown Pavilion

  • The arts district in Divinity’s Reach that was destroyed by the Great Collapse has been rebuilt into the Crown Pavilion, a grand arena that will host Kryta’s biggest events.
  • Enter the Queen’s Gauntlet to battle mighty representations of humanity’s most vicious enemies.
  • Visit the emissaries from six major nations of Tyria. A unique set of boons to improve magic find and combat stats will be available to those who wish to represent the emissaries.
  • Earn Watchwork Sprockets, a new trophy from the Watchknights, to purchase rewards from the emissaries. Purchasable rewards include:
    • New Sovereign weapon sets
    • New crafting recipes for runes and sigils
    • Cultural weapon sets

The Queen’s Gauntlet

  • Face increasingly difficult challenges in single combat against a variety of unique bosses.
  • Take a risk with special gambit conditions to earn even more prestigious rewards.
  • Each entry and gambit costs one Queen’s Gauntlet ticket. Tickets drop regularly from creatures in the Crown Pavilion and around the world. Players may also purchase tickets from the emissaries in the Crown Pavilion.

Opening Ceremony

  • Witness the unveiling of the Crown Pavilion in a brand new Living World story instance featuring familiar faces such as Queen Jennah, Logan Thackeray, Countess Anise, Lord Faren, Rox, and Braham.
  • Rumors are running high that the queen will be taking volunteers for the inaugural contest with the Watchknights. There’s no telling who might show up!
  • Enter the instanced area simply by visiting the Crown Pavilion for the first time.

Beacons of Kryta

  • Find torchbearers around Divinity’s Reach to activate a special time-limited race to light several beacons around the city.
  • Successfully complete all four torch runs to earn the Flames of Kryta, a permanent item that can be used to illuminate the player’s path through darkness.

Achievements

  • A rotation of Living World achievements has been added to the Daily Achievement category.
  • Completing the Queen’s Jubilee meta-achievement awards the player a Mini Watchknight. Completing this meta-achievement requires players to complete 18 achievements from either the Queen’s Jubilee category or the jubilee-related dailies.

Exotic Drop

  • Play Queen’s Jubilee content for a chance at the exotic Watchwork Portal Device recipe.
  • The recipe requires a level 400 artificer. It requires 5 Orichalcum Ingots, 1 Master Tuning Crystal, 1 Charged Lodestone, and 75 Watchwork Sprockets.
  • The Watchwork Portal Device is a one-time use consumable that allows players to create a portal between two points. It cannot be used in conjunction with the mesmer’s portal.

NEW FEATURES AND CONTENT
World vs. World

  • Supply Mastery has been added to the Ranks and Abilities tab.
    • Picking up supply is now instant.
    • Gains swiftness when the entire supply is spent.
    • Gains courier speed and increases movement speed by 50% after picking up supply.
    • Gains a chance to recover some supply after it’s spent.
    • Deployed siege sites gain 3 seconds of invulnerability.

Currency Wallet

  • All players now have a new currency wallet that can be found in the Hero panel. All currencies on a character are transferred to the player’s currency wallet when they log in with that character. Players will need to log in with all of their characters to get all of their currency transferred.
  • All currencies are now account bound.

Champion Loot

  • All champions now drop containers based on their family. These containers have coin, skill points, crafting materials, weapons and armor, and rare chances at unique weapon skins based on family.
  • “Defeat the Claw of Jormag”: The champions in this event no longer drop loot.
  • Citadel of Flame—Ferrah: Blaclan Firetooth is now a veteran instead of a champion.

Improved Effects Culling

  • In the open world, dungeons, PvP, and WvW, the new effects-culling system will slowly start reducing the detail of each effect in order to increase combat visibility when many effect types are overlapping.

  • Packaged Stimulants: This trait now properly increases the duration of the boons provided by the Med Kit skill Throw Stimulant instead of lowering the recharge.

  • Illusion of Life: Updated the animation and effects on this skill to make it easier to read when it is being cast in combat. The timing and effectiveness remains unchanged.
  • Polymorph Moa: This skill should now animate when used with a greatsword.
  • Veil: This utility skill now acts as a light field as its description indicates.

Necromancer:

  • Fetid Ground: Added a radius skill fact.
  • Well of Blood: Added a radius skill fact.
  • Wail of Doom: Increased the spell effect to better represent the actual spell area.
  • Tainted Shackles: This skill’s damage tooltip now displays the appropriate damage.
  • Doom: Added an effect that plays on the necromancer when this skill is used.
  • Reaper’s Mark: This skill now uses a distinct animation compared to the other mark skills on staff to help improve readability when this skill is cast. The timing and effectiveness of this skill remains unchanged.
  • Summon Bone Fiend/Rigor Mortis: Added a range fact to these skills.
  • Reaper’s Touch: Updated the skill fact to display the proper regeneration amount.
  • Crimson Tide: Fixed a bug that allowed this skill to ignore line of sight.

Ranger:

  • Entangle: Updated the damage and immobilize skill facts to reflect the actual amount of pulses.
  • Sharpening Stone: Counters will no longer decrement on every attack going, but only on attacks hit, evaded, missed (from blind), or blocked. The buff provided when this skill is activated will now properly display the remaining number of charges.

Structured Player vs. Player

  • Removed the Tournament panel.
  • Added an Arenas tab to the PvP panel.
    • Replaced “Rated Matches” with “Team Arena.” The rankings and leaderboard are the same.
    • Added a Solo Arena. Only individual players may queue for the Solo Arena; players will also have a separate ranking and leaderboard from the existing Team Arena.
  • Moved the Custom Arena browser to the PvP panel.
  • Added a Leave button to PvP games.
  • PvP games can now be joined from any location in the game, including outside of the Mists.
  • Leaving PvP will send players back to their last non-instance location.
  • Spectators can now see the currently selected target of the player being followed instead of their autoattack target.
  • Leaving rated arena games will punish players with a Dishonorable debuff. Each stack of dishonor lasts for 72 hours. If a player has the maximum amount of dishonor (5 stacks), they will be prevented from joining rated games.
  • Players in an arena game cannot switch characters after the game has started.
  • Added a Finisher tab to the Hero panel. Use the Finisher tab to choose and activate a finisher.
  • Finishers may now be unlocked either permanently or on a limited, per-use basis.
    • Using a finisher item now adds five uses of that finisher. Each finisher use is consumed when players successfully use the finisher on a downed enemy.
    • Using a permanently unlocked finisher will never consume it. Players may switch between any unlocked finishers at any time outside of combat.
    • Rank finishers are now unlocked permanently and automatically when players achieve a new rank in PvP. Rank reward chests will no longer contain Rank Finisher items.
  • Updated the capture point progress animation for all maps.
  • Heart of the Mists: Replaced two of the training golems with indestructible training golems.
  • Skyhammer: The cannon can no longer be reconfigured while the player is in stealth or invulnerable.
  • Skyhammer: Updated a couple of spectator camera positions.
  • Temple of the Silent Storm: Increased the cooldown of Mediation on Ferocity from 2 minutes to 4 minutes and increased the buff duration from 45 seconds to 2 minutes.

World vs. World

  • Keep and castle assault events are now group events and will count towards monthly achievements.

New Items and Promotions

  • The Royal Pass* *gives you admittance to the Royal Terrace, the queen’s own shopping area in Divinity’s Reach, with easy access to crafting, merchants, banks, entertainment, and more. Each pass is good for two weeks and available in the Consumables category for 300 gems each.
  • There are three new helmet skins available for purchase to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee: Mask of the Crown, Mask of the Jubilee, and Mask of the Queen. These are combat armor skins usable by any weight class and available in the Style category for 400 gems each.
  • Players can now purchase permanent finishing moves usable in PvP, WvW, and select content throughout the game. Change the finisher at any time after purchasing Cow, Whump the Giant, Thornroot, and/or Spectre finishers in the Upgrades category.
  • Aetherblade weapon skins are no longer in season and will now cost 5 Black Lion Weapon Tickets at a Black Lion Weapon Specialist.

Location[edit]

From the center of The Crown Pavilion instance, follow any of the six dividing walkways to the outer ring. On the outer ring there are three ramps leading up to the Gauntlet arenas.

Mechanic[edit]

Entering the Queen's Gauntlet requires entering a queue with the Fight Manager, which requires one Queen's Gauntlet Entrance Ticket. The Fight Manager will allow you to select any of the foes that you have either beaten or unlocked. As there are only a limited number of arenas in the instance and only one player can be in an arena at a time, expect to wait a bit before entering. You then talk to the Ringmaster to enter the fight.

The actual fight features, usually, a single boss with a unique mechanic. There is a two minute timer for completing the fight; end-bosses for each tier have longer timers. Should a player fail to complete the fight before two minute have elapsed, the floor of the arena will open, sending them plummeting to their death in the event zones below. After their humiliating defeat, fallen players will then be teleported back to the Arena Master for the arena from where they were just dumped.

Not all fights are designed to be beatable by every build and some fights will be easier on certain professions than others. Tinkering with your build or weapons or bringing another character may be necessary for some fights.

Gambits[edit]

Extra challenges can be added to the fights by talking to the Master of Gambits. Activating individual gambits costs one Queen's Gauntlet Entrance Ticket each. These gambits put a unique disadvantage on the player, but give increased rewards for each one active and can reward different achievements. Players can have as many or as few gambits active as they desire, as long as they have the tickets to spend.

Fights[edit]

Tier 1[edit]

Halmi Hammerfell
Strong attacks, has a big wind-up attack that is easy to read, but is lethal for those standing in an arc in front of him. Dodge or get behind him when he charges up his frontal hammer attack.
Doobroosh
Gains a stack of Hormonal Imbalance every time he is attacked (up to a maximum of 10 stacks). Each stack makes him physically bigger and more powerful. He loses stacks after being left alone for several seconds.
Windcaller Kieldia
Has knockback effects. One is an AoE knockback often followed by a second ground projectile knockback. Stun her and kill her quickly as she will continue to also summon progressively more tornados that deal significant damage and also knockback.
Suriel the Blazing Light
Summons shadowy pools that deal damage but grant the Shrouded in Darkness buff. Will occasionally use her Solar Flare special ability, which is lethal to anyone lacking Shrouded in Darkness. Suriel also has a buff called Blazing Light which makes her immune to damage until she enters one of the shadow pools.

Tier 2[edit]

Tyre Ragemaw
Deals more damage as his health lowers. Inflicts cripple.
Masticus
Extremely high health. Collect the red orbs to gain stacks of Bloodlust.
Salazan
Throws fire projectiles and hits hard, but is easily strafed. Save your dodges for when you're trapped in the fire ring, because strafing is harder while in the ring. Leaving the ring (Skills like Blink, Endure Pain and Lightning Flash included) will result in you being downed, however, a skill that grants you invulnerability, for example Mist Form, will allow you to safely leave the circle.
The crew of the pirate ship Ravenous
  • Each crew mate grants a unique buff to the others when defeated. They also heal all allies to full health at the time of granting the buff.
    • Master Gunner Adil grants 'Ace in the hole' which gives crew members pistols.
    • Captain Barnicus grants 'Daring' which gives a chance to dodge.
    • Stitches grants 'Nutrition' which gives regeneration.
    • First Mate Gaets grants poison blades to allies on death.

Tier 3[edit]

Subject 7
Every time it is hit, Subject 7 will separate into Oozes that can heal it as well as attack. Both Subject 7 and its spawn use ranged attacks and cripple the player. Strafing around the edge of the arena will lead the oozes to group in the middle for AoE damage and easier mitigation of their projectile attacks.
Deadeye Dunwell
From the start, the arena is littered with proximity mines. Dunwell teleports between melee range and to the other edge of the arena. He deals more damage the farther away he is and also uses an unblockable ranged attack that does extremely high damage. It therefore must be dodged or endured with a skill that grants invulnerability. The attack is easy to spot: Dunwell kneels and takes aim, a laser sight points from him to the player, a target appears on the player, and a 'charging up' sound effect plays. The duration of the charge is about 1.5 seconds.
Strugar and Chomper
Both deal close-range damage. Strugar throws axes which will either cripple or pull the player. He also throws 'Meat Chunk' and 'Meat on a Stick,' which Chomper will try to eat to gain health and 'Bloodlust' (extra damage). The player can gain 'Bloodlust' and health by picking up 'Meat Chunk,' but 'Meat on a Stick' will poison the player. Killing Strugar before Chomper will grant Chomper 'Meaty Rage,' increasing his damage and speed, and unlocking a lethal charge-up attack. Killing Chomper prompts Strugar to use 'Calladhog,' a sword that gives him more attack abilities and damage. It is generally easier to kill Strugar first because he does not heal, and while Chomper is fetching the meat he does no damage to the player.
Liadri the Concealing Dark
Liadri has two phases. In phase one, she is protected by 3 stacks of an effect that make her invulnerable while she periodically summons an AoE attack that covers a 4th of the arena and inflicts massive damage. Cosmic Rifts also spawn, often in this attack's effect range, and pull and knock down the player. The rifts can be destroyed, however. Liadri also summons slow-moving dark clones of herself called 'Vision of Mortality' that do not attack but will down the player if they get close. The Visions can be killed instantly by leading them into whirlpools of light that appear on the floor like the dark whirlpools encountered in the fight with Suriel the Blazing Light. When a Vision enters a whirlpool, both disappear and an Orb of Light appears at the same location. Picking it up and targeting Liadri with the skill it gives will remove a stack of her invulnerability. After Liadri's protection is gone she will take damage, but her AoE attack covers twice the area and she becomes mobile and uses more attacks, which cripple and weaken the player.

Master of Lightning
Has easily sidestepped ranged attacks (small tornados). Summons a lightning cage on the player that can be escaped with teleports if you teleport far enough away (otherwise you're hit with a pull toward the center of the cage). Once the cage dissipates the Boss will start spinning, dealing extreme damage in close range and moving players clockwise around the platform. After his spinning, he will summon another lightning cage soon after. Since the boss doesn't move, melee players should be in melee range whenever he casts the cage to continue DPS but need to move out quickly when the cage disappears. Gap closers or teleports can help for this.
Pallia the Errant
Has two primary mechanics: she summons a sword from the sky (a la Legendary Bandit Executioner) which can be caught with the special action key and thrown at her for heavy damage; and she summons orbs of light that rotate around the arena and reflect projectiles, dealing heavy damage if you run into them. Her final notable attack is one where she whirls towards you and follows it up with a swing that can knock you down; dodging towards the end of the whirl will allow you to avoid the knockdown.
Champion Gladiator Waine
Roots himself to deliver a heavy-damage, rapid-fire, straight-line attack that must be strafed or absorbed, but can be interrupted. When he's done this flurry, he places down a line (oriented from him to you) that lasts the whole match and can not be crossed without stability, so be careful about where you are when the flurry ends as you can easily cordon yourself into a small section of the arena.
Suriel the Radiant Light
Summons Bows of Truth, Suriel is vulnerable after at least one Bow is killed. If three bows are alive at once, you'll be permanently rooted in place until one of them is killed, and Suriel will do tons of melee damage to you.
King Turai Ossa
Avoid combat and try to survive for 20 seconds. After 20 seconds, he will teleport to the middle of the platform and throw his shield. If you avoid getting hit by the shield, he will get 5 seconds of protection and a defiance bar will appear. Depleting his defiance bar will stun him and remove the Shield of Elona effect, allowing players to damage him. If you get hit by the shield, you will be stunned, receive heavy damage, and Turai will gain 25 stacks of might and 15 seconds of quickness, swiftness, and resistance. Continue to avoid his attacks and if possible try do damage him at the same time. Again, after 20 seconds, he will teleport to the middle of the platform to throw his shield. If you avoid getting hit by the shield, he will get 5 seconds of protection and a defiance bar will appear. Depleting this defiance bar will will stun him and remove the Eternal Blade effect, greatly reducing his attack damage. If you get hit by the shield, he will get back the Shield of Elona effect and full buffs as before. After both effects are removed, you can damage him safely. Always deplete his breakbar after he teleports to the middle and throws his shield, or he'll get Eternal Blade and Shield of Elona effects back.

  • 1 Festival Token per successful fight
  • 1 Festival Token per additional Gambit taken
  • Once per day:
    • 14 Festival Tokens for each Tier 1 Challenge
    • 21 Festival Tokens for each Tier 2 Challenge
    • 28 Festival Tokens for each Tier 3 and Special Tier Challenge

Historical rewards[edit]

  • As of 2018 the additional drops from Gauntlet Chance that were present in previous versions of this Festival have been removed completely from Gauntlet Fights and apart from once daily, bosses cannot be farmed effectively anymore. Due to the Cost of 7 Festival Token per Queen's Gauntlet Entrance Ticket buying them instead of using drops from enemies in the Boss Blitz further decreases potential profits.
