I know we speak a lot about the crushes we have on all the boys in the bands and we are forever making fools of ourselves because we try to act so cool that it comes off so uncool it hurts our wee hearts, BUT TODAY FOLKS WE ARE SPEAKING ABOUT OUR BIGGEST CRUSH PROBABLY EVER and for once in our short lives it's not about a boy with a man bun and beard sporting a leather jacket in a band, IT'S EVEN BETTER THAN THAT...Lauren Aquilina, where you at girl!? *IF YOU ARE READING THIS LAUREN, LOOK AWAY COS' MAJOR BLOGGING FANGIRLING IS ABOUT TO GO DOWN RIGHT NOW* The beauty from down south is probably our favourite person ever not just because she has the voice of an angel or because she is so hot sometimes I think I could turn but also because she is actually just the greatest wee soul. Lauren Aquilina was doing a headline show at our fave west end venue Oran Mor so I thought it would be rude not to have a chat with her...PREPARE FOR ALL THE LOVE HEART EMOJIS AND SQUEALS. FCK YES: Hiya Lauren! Tell us about how you started out in the music industry LA: I started off doing open mic nights when I was about 13 and my mum would come to all of them with me and film them on her handheld camcorder. Eventually she was like ''Why don't we just put one of these on Youtube?'' and I was like I don't really know if I want to but she kind of persuaded me. I then got a lot of nice comments on the videos so I just carried on doing it. Through that I had a few people get in touch, the producer that I have done all my EP's with and now album with, I met because he commented on one of my Youtube videos. I started making connections through the internet really! FCK YES: Ah cool! So you released your new EP 'Oceans'. Were you nervous about releasing new music? LA: Yeah really nervous! Especially because it's really different to anything I have done before sound wise. It was exciting but I was pretty nervous about it. FCK YES: So I need to ask you...How was it performing at Taylor Swift's Hyde Park gig? LA: It was an experience! It was definitely one of my highlights of this year. What topped it off for me was getting to meet her afterwards and she was so genuinely nice, which I think I expected but I didn't expect her to be like that nice. FCK YES: Did you have a major fan girl moment? LA: I was really trying to keep it cool. She was fangirling a bit, she ran up to me and was like ''Lauren I love your music so much'' and I was like ''OH MY GOD ARE YOU SERIOUS!?''. I had a long chat with her, she was giving me all the boy advice and career advice, it was really cool! FCK YES: Amazing!! You are very active on your social media, how important is it for you to stay in touch with your fans? LA: It's probably one of the main reasons why I'm still doing music now. That connection for me has always been so important, when I sort of started out I thought to myself as a fan what would I want from an artist and I've always tried to fulfill that. I will always put them first. At my London show the other day I had my label calling me all day telling me to cut old songs from my set and I said to them that I can't do that because the fans want to hear that, I have to put them first in this situation. I will always reply to them individually and thank them for their support as it's so important to me! FCK YES: Total curveball on this one but if you were an emoji, what emoji would you be!? LA: *Laughs and picks up phone* Hmmm what's my most used emoji!? FCK YES: I'm the Spanish dancer! LA: Ahh yes, I never use that one! FCK YES: I use that one too much LA: I use the grinning face quite a lot. I also LOVE this new one, the upside down smiley face. FCK YES: Whaaat I haven't seen that! LA: It's on the new update! It's so sarcastic, it's amazing. You can put it on the end of everything and it makes it immediately sarcastic, like F*CK YOU..upside down smiley. FCK YES: Do One Direction have an emoji? I'm pretty sure I saw something about that.. LA: They have an emoji!? Surely not! FCK YES: I pretty sure I saw something on Facebook yesterday! FCK YES: I'm so unsure about it LA: The first time I listen to it I was a bit underwhelmed but now I am just fully embracing it! FCK YES: I love the flip phone in the video haha LA: Hahahaha yes it's amazing! FCK YES: Wine LA: F*CK YES! FCK YES: What's your go to wine. We're big wine drinkers! LA: I'm a Sauvignon girl FCK YES: Oh my god yes!! So are we LA: I mean I'm no wine expert but I will always go for a Sauv FCK YES: me too!! Pineapple on pizza!? LA: F*CK YES! FCK YES: Me too! Ah yaaas it's a match made in heaven, we could totally go on a date and order a huge pizza with all the pineapple whilst we tank 949201 bottles of Sauv Blanc. So keen, probably too keen, sorry I will stop now. After the interview I headed to meet my fave wee pop princess Latz for all the wine, too much tequila and gin. We went to see Lauren perform and she blew the roof off. The new material is INSANE, INSANE, INSAAAAAAAAAANEEE. Latz and I kept looking at each other like WTF this is incredible. When Lauren was doing her ''last song'' (added the '' because we all knew she was coming back on for an encore...it's like one mind) Latz got so upset she shouted ''YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO US'', I don't think she realised how loud she said it until the whole crowd looked back at her and laughed, lol sorry Lauren we just didn't want you to leave us!
